Caroline Shotton began painting her now famous cow portraits when she was pregnant with her son. She wanted a painting of a cow for his nursery that was comical and would make him smile instead of a realistic cow painting.

More than fifteen years later, Caroline Shotton’s cows continue to wow and are collected widely throughout the UK and abroad. Her creative artworks are largely inspired by her sons; playing in hay, puddles and smothering their faces in chocolate have all led to pieces featuring cows with real hay, leaves and paper flowers in the compositions.

Caroline’s mind is constantly brimming with new ideas and has lots of ideas for titles, cow puns, compositions, colours and techniques scribbled on anything from scraps of paper to sweet wrappers!

Caroline’s collectors eagerly await the latest releases from her studio and often sell before they can arrive at galleries.
